All Marksman Design mirrors are individually
handcrafted using fine domestic and imported
hardwoods: cherry , rosewood, mahogany and ebony. No
two are exactly alike. Those we have featured below use reproduction Moravian Tiles currently being produced at Henry C. Mercer's factory, now a National Historic Landmark. Founded in 1898, the Tile Works produced tiles for hundreds of private and public buildings, such as the John D. Rockefeller estate in New York, The Gardner Museum in Boston, The National Press Club in Washington and the State capitol in Harrisburg Pa. In an attempt to maintain the integrity of the production, Mercer's processes are duplicated as faithfully as possible to preserve the spirit and look of the originals. Individual mirrors can be made to order and can also feature Motawi tiles such as those illustrated below. Choice of woods available for mirrors using Motawi tiles include cherry and quartersawn oak for the frames . Please query for other tile choices available. |

The mirrors manifest his desire to merge a love of both arts and craft design and period ceramics. This began with the building of custom tables with tile inserts and finally with the creation of the mirrors. The furniture and mirrors have been shown at shows such as the juried show at The Craftsman Farm/Stickley museum in New Jersey and his custom work can be found in several fine homes in the northeast.
