Is this my farewell
Interpretation of a Painting by Giovanni Bellini

How much better to speak
in tongues under the breadth
of beating wings, use
illumination as language
color as means of persuasion.
I'd calm you with cerulean
forged with gold; warm you
with carmine alloyed
with a touch of cream;
dress you in the diaphanous.
if the spirit of god can hide
in a small bird then our flight, too,
is assured. The updraft
of your breath speaks a prism of
light.
