Gustav Klimt

The Star

She's not a person.
She's a star.
She doesn't live like other people.
She can't bother to speak to them
unless they want her autograph.
Then she can be polite, congenial,
pretend she's not a star at all,
but a real person - just like them.
She observes.
She writes - about herself.
She says she writes about herself
to illuminate the experience of other people.
That's a lie.
She just likes to write about herself.
And when she uses the women's room,
which is rarely,
out comes
a thousand
points of light.
