Writing on Stone by Barry Smylie "Drawing on stone is something I did for 30 years. The feel of it is ancient. I liked to think about the prehistoric limestone cave artists, and the Egyptian painters in limestone dugout passages, and the limestone masons of Athens and all those little crusty creatures that lived in the ancient sea whose bodies are the stuff of the limestone. I felt connected to the stone, but now I paint in acrylic and pixels." |
