Buried Bell

I could have used
another ten minutes with you,
spent it
drinking in your
dark eyes, the way
you filled a black
swimsuit, shaped
it into something
more than lycra.
I could have used
another ten minutes with you,
this time
had the courage
to touch your arm,
ask you if you wanted
a drink, maybe,
or if you were interested
in taking a walk,
getting away
for a few minutes
to talk, alone,
besides the buried bell
on the other side
of the parking lot,
maybe this time
have the courage
to touch your cheek,
pull your lips to mine,
feel your fingers
resting on my arm,
your cheek resting against mine,
our legs tangled
as we lean
on the buried bell.
Maybe this time.
